Stress echocardiogram
Stress echocardiogram is a non-invasive diagnostic test used to detect heart disease that may not be detected without exercise. You will be exercising for a short period on the treadmill while your heart rhythm and blood pressure are being monitored. Ultrasound images of the heart will be taken before and after exercise.
Please take only light meals or small amount of water 2 hours before the test. Please wear comfortable clothing, sport shoes, runners or flat soled walking shoes. You will be walking or running on a treadmill. Please check with your doctor if you should stop some of your medications before the test. Please bring a small towel. Please allow 30 minutes for this test. NEW Medicare approved indications for stress ECHO: 1. Atypical or typical symptoms suggestive of angina.2. Known CAD, not controlled by medical therapy, or symptoms have evolved since last test.3. Assessment for ischaemia for patient with congenital heart lesions undergoing surgery.4. Abnormal ECG suggestive of ischaemia.5. Assessment for ischaemia in patients with uncertain functional significance in CTCA.6. Dyspnea of unknown aetiology.7. Pre-op assessment for patients with intermediate to high risk, known IHD or previous AMI, heart failure, stroke, TIA, renal dysfunction (Creat > 170), DM requiring insulin.8. Assessment of severity of aortic stenosis.9. Assessment of valvular regurgitation and/or correlated with functional capacity.10. Silent ischaemia is suspected.11. Inability to determine the degree of symptoms due to cognitive or language issues.NOTE: Stress test is no longer indicated for routine check-up or occupational/license assessment
Transthoracic Echocardiogram
This test uses sound waves to produce moving pictures of your heart. The process is similar to scanning a baby in pregnancy. It is a non-invasive diagnostic procedure and has no known risk or side effect.
No preparation is needed. Please allow 30 minutes for this test.
24 Hour ECG(Holter Monitor)
Holter monitor records your heart beat and rhythm over 24 hours. You wear a small recorder and wires run from the recorder to electrodes attached to your chest. You can go about your daily activities. The only restrictions while wearing the monitor are no showering, bathing or swimming. Please do not let the monitor get wet, participate in rough activities or come in contact with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), electric fences or arc welders.
Please allow 15 minutes for the attachment of the monitor in your initial visit. NEW Medicare approved indications:syncope, pre-syncope, frequent palpitation (> 1x/week), asymptomatic arrhythmia, surveillance after ablation, detection of AF after TIA/stroke
24 Hour Blood Pressure Monitor
Blood Pressure monitor records your blood pressure over 24 hours. You wear a blood pressure cuff with a small tube attaching to a device. You can go about your daily activities. The only restrictions while wearing the monitor are no showering, bathing or swimming. Please do not let the monitor get wet, participate in rough activities or come in contact with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), electric fences or arc welders.
