Dr Chong was trained at the University of Melbourne, Australia. He completed his training in internal medicine in Singapore and Australia. He obtained the Master of Medicine and was admitted as a member of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom (MRCP) in 2006. His specialty Cardiology training was undertaken at the Western Hospital in Victoria. Dr Chong completed his advanced cardiology fellowship in echocardiography at the Flinders Medical Centre, South Australia and has expertise in advanced echocardiography which includes stress echocardiography, contrast echocardiography, 3D echocardiography and transoesophageal echocardiography. He has been attested by the National Board of Echocardiography (NBE, North America) to have successfully completed the examination of special competence in adult echocardiography. He also completed level 2 training in CT coronary angiography from the UCLA-Harbor Medical Centre, California in USA. He was admitted as a Fellow of Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in 2011. Dr Chong is a member of Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand. He is also a member of the Asian-Pacific Association of Echocardiography. Dr Chong is a visiting consultant in various private hospitals across Melbourne including the Epworth Hospital, The Valley Private Hospital and The Knox Private Hospital. Dr Chong sees patients with full spectrum of adult cardiology problems with special interests in cardiovascular risk assessment and primary prevention, chest pain, valvular heart disease and heart failure. He is fluent in languages other than English including Mandarin, Cantonese and Malay/Indonesian.
